Denver Public Schools · Affects DPS Families

DPS Enrollment Boundary Changes Coming for 2027–28

Superintendent presents to school board October 26

Denver Public Schools is redrawing enrollment boundaries and zones for the first time since the 1990s — and it affects families across Montclair and Mayfair. The changes take effect for the 2027–28 school year.

Here's what you need to know: some Denver families live in an enrollment boundary (guaranteed spot at one school, no application needed) while others live in an enrollment zone (guaranteed spot at one of several schools, but a SchoolChoice application is required). DPS is reviewing both systems across all grades and all six regions of the district.

The good news: if your child already has a seat at a school, they keep it. Going forward, SchoolChoice applications will only be required at transition points — kindergarten, 6th grade, and 9th grade. Proximity to a school will also factor into enrollment priority.

The superintendent presents final decisions to the school board on October 26.
